What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis promotes a profoundly relaxed state of mind and body, which allows access to the subconscious mind in order to affect positive change. It is a gentle, enjoyable and essentially simple process with many benefits.
What conditions are helped by Hypnotherapy?
Almost any condition can be helped by hypnotherapy. Common conditions include:
- stress
- Stop Smoking
- anxiety
- phobias
- panic attacks
- lack of confidence
- low self-esteem
- snoring
- weight loss
- depression
- stress related physical problems e.g. irritable bowel and many more.
It can also be used simply to improve skills such as improving creativity and performance.
How will I be Hypnotised ?
Simply by talking to you. You will lie down and be warm and comfortable. The sound of the therapist's voice will help you to enter a relaxed state, suitable for hypnotherapy. It is an enjoyable feeling.
I've seen shows where people are hypnotised and do funny things
In these shows hypnosis is used to entertain. The hypnotist picks out the suggestible subjects. Many are weeded out 'off camera'. Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to improve well-being, and is very different from anything you might see in a show.
Can I be made to do things I don't want to?
No. Your subconscious will automatically reject any such suggestions. In stage hypnosis, the subjects want to behave as they do!
What qualifications will my therapist have?
All our hypnotherapists are professionally qualified, belong to a representative body and attend refresher courses. They also hold professional indemnity insurance. They are bound by the code of practice of their representative body.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to effect change. It is a gentle, enjoyable and essentially simple process, with many benefits.
What is Hypnosis?
This is simply a relaxed state. Everyone experiences these states daily. They are pleasant, dream like states. Like those we experience whilst day dreaming. Hypnosis is entering such state deliberately to affect possible change
How can Hypnotherapy help?
In the relaxed condition of hypnosis, the subconscious mind is open to suggestion. This making it easier to focus on the changes needed and deal with them more powerfully at a deeper level
Can anyone be Hypnotised?
Almost anyone can be hypnotised, but some people are much more suggestible than others. These will very readily go into the relaxed state necessary for the therapy.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and traumatic memories.
When a disturbing event occurs, it can get locked in the memory with the original pictures, sounds, thoughts, feelings and body sensations. Flashbacks, nightmares and heightened anxiety commonly occur.
Major traumas include such things as road traffic accidents, wars, assaults, rape and torture. Smaller traumas, such as a moment of childhood humiliation, can be burned into our memories in a similar way.
During a lifetime, we experience many disturbing events. Most of these will be processed spontaneously by our brains.
Occasionally, however, this processing does not occur. EMDR stimulates the brain to begin its natural sequence.
Victims of a single traumatic event will usually respond to 3-6 sessions of EMDR. An EMDR session is 90 minutes long. Fees EMDR Each session: £75
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
CBT is helpful with problems such as depression and anxiety.
CBT helps you change the way you think – the cognitive part – and the way you act – the behavioural part. Unlike therapies such as counselling, it is very much present and future based.
CBT helps you understand the workings of your own mind, so that you come to be in better control. It gives you your ‘owner’s manual’ for your brain.
CBT is based on teaching you the cognitive approach to understanding feelings, so you will need to spend enough time to grasp it. This will usually take 6-8 sessions.
Research shows that CBT is not only effective at treating depression, but can also help prevent recurrences.
Fees CBT £55 first session: £40 follow-up. Block of six sessions: £225
